Clouds passed below, then as the king descended from their mist, land revealed itself. A most accurate map that most dragons, but only a few mortals could see. The arc of his land watched from the distance as he swooped lower, scanning the landscape below. More details appeared as he circled downwards. He saw a tiny hand in his peripheral vision pointing down at the ground below. The hand belonged to either Lyen Aleena or Lyen Merel, his two new nobles, entourage and armed escort.
The hand pointed at a cluster of angular shapes: rooftops. A village just what they were looking for. He nodded, words likely useless with the wind rushing past them, then with a few turns he landed, a good walk's distance away from the village. Suddenly appearing in its middle would only scare the people.
Once the two girls got off his back, he lit a fire with a puff of breath, for them to warm up by. Mortals, not naturally made for flight, were prone to the cold of winds.
"Soon we shall greet them as our people. Until then, let us warm up a bit."

"I see you becoming the hero they know you as." The head of the village said, nodding his head towards the dragon that accompanied the wanderer. Naraseren had been in this village a few times. The first time, he stopped some petty thief from mugging this village elder on his way home one night. He really only yelled at the thief, who in turn escaped, scared off by the presence of a witness. By the time his endless journey brought him to the village once more, the story has evolved. In the tavern he was told about how he single handedly defended the village from a raid of bandits. He already dreaded the additions the townsfolk would make, seeing him return with a dragon this time.
His dragon companion, Eradyrrassil, has grown much through the passed months, although as of yet too small to take rider to the sky, he was approaching the size of a decent pony rapidly.
"Come, have a drink, let the people see their hero return. You can't hide from them too long anyway, they will know." The elder, leader of the village, said invitingly. He had wandered for quite some time now, a few days of rest would do him good, he figured. They set off towards the inn. Stepping through the door he believed to notice a shadow pass through across the sky.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,430,true] | [atrb=background,http://i860.photobucket.com/albums/ab164/SyndromeSyd/eristable2.png] The world right now was dark and dreary. Approaching Morgana, the infamously rainy town, the clouds congregated above to plan their next scheme of trying to drown out the small civilizations. The world was basked in the dim light that filtered through these clouds, and everything was a hue of blue or grey or green. It was peaceful. The calm before the storm.
But Eris did not see the world this way. Her world was basked in brilliant colors that her mind let her see, bright greens and pinks and turqoises. To her, the clouds did not exist. Her travels from the city of Turgus along the empty land to Morgana had been somewhat of an adventure, and she had had fun. But now, somewhere in the back of her mind she recognized that she was entering a zone where the sun did not normally shine, and even though she didn't see it as such, she was still a bit nervous to enter. Her thin form moved over the small hills and dips in the land, and as she could feel it was a bit windy, she clutched her dark cloak together in front of her. Her world dimmed only the slightest.
She was tempted to turn back, go somewhere that did not threaten her dream world, because the last time something had, she had severely wounded and almost killed three people. To this day she wasn't sure if they were dead. The one that received her teeth in his arm might have just bled out. But she refused to concern herself with it. Instead, she marveled at the flowers sprouting out of the ground that only she saw, smiling at their beauty.
Soon, upon coming up from one of the larger dips in the ground, she noticed a new light coming from the direction she was heading. A light different than her imagined sunlight, less white and more warm. As she peered into the near distance, she could see a fire. Her eyes went wide and she stopped in her tracks, but it wasn't the fire that had caused her to do so. Standing next to the fire was the most beautiful creature she had ever seen. Large and horribly visible, but he still looked like he belonged where he was. The gleam on his golden scales was enhanced by Eris's dream world, and she started moving again, instinctively toward this creature. As she got closer, her mind identified it as a dragon. Up until now she had only heard stories of them. She had never imagined they would be so majestic.
She moved quickly now, approaching the dragon, and barely sneering at the other females that were with him. Which was saying something, as all women were enemies to Eris until being proven friends. She didn't like them, no, but her wonder at the draco was overriding that. Soon close, she stood about ten feet from their fire, her blue-green eyes fixed on the reptile. She held her cloak daintily in the middle, the hood still up, her eyes wide, and there was only one word that came out of her mouth before she could catch it. "Lovely." she said, her voice distracted and vacant.

The king watched the village curiously as the two ladies warmed by the fire. People busy with their work, none seemed to care enough to see the dragon just outside their village. Or did mortals not see this far? That would be hard to imagine, unless this would be a village of only blind men, just as unlikely an option. "We shall enter and greet our people now, we have lingered for enough time." He said then, but the first response came not from either of the two childgirls. It also made little sense, if it was a response to his words. "Lovely", what the response was, the king turned to see who uttered the word.
"And who mayest thou be, fair stranger?" He asked the newcomer in dark cloak staring at him with wide eyes as if she saw a miracle. He could be a miracle for her, as most mortals have never seen a dragon up close.

This was the most magnificent creature she had ever seen, and she suddenly wanted to touch it. However, his voice and words proved that he was male, and instantly the smile was wiped from her face in realization, only to be put back a few seconds later. This time, her smile was dainty, flirtatious. Some of his words had been odd. Old-fashioned, but she liked it. She liked everything about this creature already. And then she remembered that he had asked who she was. She lowered the hood on her cloak, revealing deep red hair and an almost-elven looking face. Minus the pointy ears.
"I am Justine." she lied easily. It was a reflex, an instinct to lie. She knew that out in the real world, her identity should be hidden, because it is marked with rather bad reputation in some areas, but in her dream world it wouldn't matter anyway who she wanted to be. However, to this dragon, she didn't want to lie, and she caught herself. Her gaze swept down to the ground momentarily as she corrected herself. "I'm sorry, my name is Eris." she said correctly this time, with a beaming smile on her face. "And you have got to be one of the most beautiful creatures I have ever seen."

"Myself, I am Gratzerilasshis Merakhid," he introduced himself, "king of Rennrahkash in the Massacre Mountains, and these are Lyen Merel and Lyen Aleena. " Spoke the king. He observed the newcomer. Something was off about her, but he couldn't grasp what exactly it was. But it was not that odd, at least when compared to the two childgirls claiming to be warriors.
"Why, thank thee, thou art not lesser in looks either." He said, returning the compliment. But he soon turned to the matters for which he came here.
"Over yonder is a village of my once lost people, awaiting their king's return, if not knowing it yet. Ceilend… come, join us in welcoming them, aid their travel to their old home, and thou shalt not be left without my royal gratitude."

((Double post, I know, but still…))
"But time waits not for us, let us arrive before late, while the folk is still there to meet us." The king continued, and the odd little company went towards the village. Not a threatening march or an overly pompous parade, just simply walked in to the village's edge.
"Lyenatt'am, please gather the people, so as to welcome them." He said to the ladies, while they proceeded to the center of the village, where some people already eyed the uncommon visitors.

Actually, Allena had never thought about flying before. She watched birds, admired their endless freedom - but nothing more. She had never dreamt about it. And now, as they were sitting on a dragon's back - a real dragon it was, she still couldn't believe that -, and she felt her stomach lifting up and down, well, she didn't really understand that what do people like about the thought of flying. For her, it was a nightmare. She heard Merel speaking to her excitedly, but the whizz of the wind was louder, she could only catch a few words. She opened her eyes for just one moment, but quickly closed them again; she had almost faint when she realised that how far were they from the safe and solid ground.
After an eternity, they landed. Her only thought was "Nevermore" as she somehow got off from the king's back, but she wasn't able to say a single word. Her legs were shaking as she stumbled to the fire to warm up. "All right" She kept saying to herself "Everything is fine". And after a few minutes she really felt better; she calmed down, started to breathe in a normal way, flying slowly faded to a bad memory, and she considered the thought of vomiting in which she was quite sure while they were in the air.
So, as she was occupied with herself, she didn't noticed the stranger, just when the king answered to her. Aleena somehow didn't like her very much for the first sight; there was something in the newcomer which made her flesh creep. The girl almost started to protest when the king offered to Eris to join them, but then rather kept silent. She would have reached nothing but the hatred of the stranger - which she definitely didn't want. Even so, she didn't lile the idea; she was afraid of Eris, without any rational reason.

The inn was full of people and commotion when Merel entered. Now that was the kind of inn she liked. She almost even forgot that she was supposed to get the people outside, for the king. For there was a dragon there in the first place, accompanying a man in fur cloak by the looks of it. No doubt a Rider, just like in the stories. Then also the bartender, whose voice soon filled the room, booming:
"Our very Landstrider! Come, have a drink, it's on the house!" Every eye that was not yet stuck on the man turned to him immediately, including Merel's, and all chatter ceased at once. Did he really say Landstrider? Merel tried to get as close as she could, ending up standing on a table so she could see something at all. "I guess it is pointless for me to say it was only a…" the man started, only to be interrupted. "Yes, yes, indeed! A real hero, like which can be only found in legends, as modest as he is great. He himself never bragged about the day he first arrived to our little village…" the barkeeper started the story, and Merel echoed every word in thought, momentarily forgetting about everything else in the world. Then she remembered her task, but couldn't make herself interrupt such a great story, she waited until the barkeeper finished, and meanwhile enjoyed every word.
It was hard to grab attention now. Maybe something uncommon… She raised Ravana, reached for a lamp that hung from the ceiling, and hit it a few times with the flat of the blade. The noise and the sword drew the attention, though several looks were worried, seeing the drawn weapon.
"Thankies" she said with an innocent smile once everyone was looking at her "The true king has come, and awaits you all just outside." She announced, pointing at the door with her sword. Luckily, no-one was in the blade's way, as she moved it too carelessly for such sharpness. The ensuing commotion was wonderful, some cowered, while others started peeking outside, some turned to their hero as to what to do, and many still eyed her with suspicion. She made it to the door, opened it wide, and waved for the crowd to follow. "Come on, don't be shy." It took a while before a few gathered will to brave outside after her. Merel's eyes scanned them, hoping for the Landstrider, whom she had always wished to meet in person, and was now right here, in this very corner of the world.

Aleena looked at Merel in a bit of despair as she was waiting for some kind of help, but the other girl had already disappeared. She sighed, then took a few steps forward. She held her sword uncertainly because she had never touched anything like that before - actually, she had never seen one. Great stories were told about kings and queens and dragons, and the girl listened to them really carefully, but now, as she seemed to become the part of a great story, she didn't feel very confident or strong. To the contrary, she was just a young girl, who somehow - how did it exactly happen, when did it exactly start? She could hardly remember like it was a hundred years ago when they met next to that spring in the forest - got into a story, and when she got over her surprise, she was the owner of a fabulous weapon and helping for a thousand-year-old dragon to gather his people.
She stole a glance on Eris, but looked away from her quickly. The stranger somehow scared her, and although Merel didn't seemed to notice that their new companion didn't like them too much, Aleena wasn't sure about that the stranger wouldn't hurt them if she would have the chance. It was the first time when she was happy because of her new sword, though she could't use it as wonderfully as Merel.
Aleena sighed again, and stood at the centre of the little square where they were. Their arrival already attracted the people there; small groups of people were standing around them and staring at the king, so all she had to do was to tell them why did they come. “The true king of these lands, whom you had beend waiting so long” She just hope that her voice wasn’t so unconfident as she heard it “has finally arrived. He’s only waiting for you to join him.”

"And there he stood on the square, and they came at him from all around, emerging from the dark fog. And their arrows glanced off of his armour of dragonscales, except the ones he caught from the air and threw back with the same force, felling the archers that shot them, and their swords melted and broke on his flaming claymore, and the bandits caught fire as his blade hewed their flesh. And as the wind carried away the fog and their ashes the Landstrider just sat there on the ground, took the still red hot blade shards and bent them into horseshoes with his bare hands!"
The man just sat at the counter, rested his forehead in his palm for a moment while the bartender served him a mug of ale. Could all the people be really this uninterested in the actual facts? His mind screamed every time he heard such a distortion of his helpfulness. Was he maybe a toy of the gods, his existence serving for their amusement?
Then a clang was heard with an otherworldly undertone, all attention turned towards it's source, a child with an unnatural sword, speaking of a returning king. A minor chaos ensued immediately, and Naraseren found himself in the middle of a crowd questioning him what to do now. "I myself am going out, buteveryone does so on their own risk." He warned the people as he and Eradyrrassil stepped through the door. Nothing guaranteed it was safe, it could be a trap, an ambush just as well as really some noble preparing a speech, and Naraseren didn't want to risk anyone else's safety. Of course they all followed him.
In a way he was right about the ambush, by the worst thing imaginable, for him at least for him. Worse than wild beasts. Worse than outlaws. Worse than a dragon. A fangirl. The very same odd girl, who heralded this king's arrival. "You really are the Landstrider from the stories" She said with voice trailing off in her amazement in her eyes and voice, the man couldn't determine whether it was a question or a statement, but he had a suspicion that it was meant to be the latter. "The greatest hero ever lived, known and beloved across all lands. You must by all means meet king Gratzerilasshis!"
The girl seemed to literally bounce with excitement as she led him, as well as the small crowd following close behind, towards the village's square. Gratzerilasshis… the name seemed familiar from legends, but he would have to search his mind for the story. On the square stood a great dragon, his scales of gold and brass colours, and another crowd from the village was gathering around him already.

The two childgirls did well, the villagers gathered around him at a distance. In the eyes he could see a variety of feelings, awe, caution, curiosity, and in one case, sparkling, zealous admiration - that was Lyen Merel's, aimed at an armed, armored man, a figure of importance to the people as well, by the looks of it.
Silence fell upon the crowd once the king spoke. "Fenatten uenat tou nares khidylid bi arves kretylat… Sons of people from the old kingdom in tall mountains… Khidt'il gos ceilum mera… Your king has returned! Join me now, let us rebuild a realm lost in legends. Leave behind your false leech-lords who grow fat on your hard work. Take to the mountains, become the strong people your grandfathers' grandfathers were. What I give you does mean hard work. But it also means safety, prosperity for those who dare into the heights of Rennrahkashkretyl, for the strong peaks deter not just raiders but even armies, and the deep valleys cradle every settlement with walls unbreakable, and the stone is vast and rich in iron. And I seek not to reap your riches like the fat leech-lords do, for soon they will beg for our iron, they will offer their own riches in all kinds and forms. On highlands shall grow grapes for wine and goats shall skip on tall hillsides if we work together to achieve it. Come and return the Rennrahkash of legends into this world!"

Aleena was deeply astonished when she saw how many had gathered around them. People came out from the tavern - for a flash of time she was quite sure that she saw Merel as she was talking to an armed man, who was unknown for Aleena, but then she diasappeared from sight -, and when she looked around she realised that she stood at the verge of the small crowd as people kept a little distance from her. First she didn't understand, then found out that she was still clutching the weapon as if her life would have depended on it. But then the king started to speak, and Aleena forgot about everything else, as she concentrated on him and only him.
She liked the speech. It was very impressive in her opinion, speech of a true king; and as she looked around, in many eyes she saw the same admiration which could be seen in hers. However, also many of them seemed to still be afraid of him, and some of them were uncertain. But she was sure about that Gratzerilasshis will convince them. "They can't say 'no' for a real dragon, who is a king furthermore" She conceived. But the crowd stayed quiet. The villagers whispered to their neighbours, but no-one answered the call. No-one stepped forward. They rather seemed scared than convinced. The girl held her breath while waiting. She wondered if why the villagers can't just speak or kneel down or do something, and then came to the conclusion that they were too scared. After this deduction she just admired Merel more for her courage when she accosted the king...
After a while - it seemed to be an eternity for the girl but couldn't be more than a couple of minutes -, a man stepped forward. Aleena wished if she was taller, just a bit, so then she could have looked over the people's head and see the man. But she wasn't, so had to rely on her ears mostly. "I accept thou as a king" He said "If thou can really give us the safety amd protection what thou promise" Aleena was pretty sure that he knelt down, because slowly people followed his example. Not all of them - some villagers stepped backwards and didn't seem very happy or satisfied. But most of them accepted the king. The girl sighed in relief as she also knelt down. ''Now everything will be fine'' She thought. ''Our happy ending may come''

The king raised an eyebrow. Did this mere mortal dare address him in a personal, informal manner? But then he postponed his pride, both for the man and most of the village knelt down, and for he used the words incorrectly, so there could be a slight chance he simply didn't know this mode, just improvised. At some time the king may return to this topic, but now there were more important ones at hand. He reveled in the sight of the kneeling people. There were ones who remained standing, moreover took steps backwards, for which he did not cheer, but they were few. If not else, they will be left behind.
"Hysend… arise now, newfound people of Rennrahkash! Gather your belongings that you must bring, then we shall take to the mountains. Seek us for help if need be, we will gladly aid you." He watched the crowd react to his words. Then he noticed movement, and looking there he saw Lyen Merel approach, towing a less enthusiastic man by the wrist.

The people slowly stood up - their movements were a bit ambiguous as if they hadn't been really sure about what they should do. They looked at each other, then divided into small groups, and started to walk towards their homes. Those who remained standing during the king's speech as well joined them and appearently tried to convince them to stay - Aleena caught only words from their conversations, but it was quite obvious. 'If they had problems with moving away why hadn't they asked the king himself?' She wondered, but then she glanced at Gratzerilasshis, and found out that they probably weren't brave enough to accost him, they spoke to their neighbours instead. Luckily, they weren't too many, so the girl wasn't really worried about that they would convince the newfound people of the king to stay here, to go on with living their dull lives.
Then her attention turned to Merel and the stranger as she thought it would take time for the villagers to pack their things and come back to the square, so there was no point in standing and staring after them. She looked at the man whom Merel was dragging after herself. She was still about is identity, but the longsword and the way Merel stared at him led her to the conclusion that he could be some kind of hero, though she wasn't sure about that: after all, what would a hero do here, behind the veyond? However, he could be nothing but a hero. She noticed that some of the people stayed there, in the shades of the houses, whispering with each other, and staring at the man as if they had waited some kind of help from him. 'He can be some kind of leader here' Aleena thought. 'However, then what's that nice sword for? Only heroes have swords' She contemplated, then she remembered that now she had a sword as well none the less she didn't feel herself as a hero at all. So she walked closer to the king, Merel and the stranger, waiting for the truth about the man's identity.
