Peredur walked through a rather tall patch of wildflowers. It was strange, since there were so many other patches that had been shorter. Now that he thought about it, Peredur realized that they had been flattened. This was not good. He must of wandered into a place that had been claimed by a dragon. Since Peredur was just a human, one with a large sword and other assorted weapons, there was a good chance that he would be taken as a threat. Peredur lowered himself to a sitting position.

Blaze laid in the flowers in front of his dirt tunnel - the one he had dug as his home. It dipped down in the ground and then back up, to stop the rain from flooding it. Then, it proceeded into the dirt. He lay in front of this tunneling enjoying the rest of the daylight before it was gone for the day. Blaze liked being alone for the many fortnights he had spent here in The Plains, but he was starting to get lonely. Although he would never admit it, he missed the roar of other dragons and the noises of other creatures. Being alone was nice, but only for so long...
As he lay there with his eyes closed, he sniffed a new scent that went through the air. It was human! Excitement went through Blaze; he was excited that a new creature was in The Plains with him, but this was his territory and he needed to make a spectacle so the human would know he was the dominant being. He heard footsteps in the field to his right and knew this would be his chance to fly without being detected, yet. In one motion, Blaze lifted his body off the ground and leaped into the air. Opening his wings, he flew up away from the dirt and went toward the human. Once he spotted the creature crouching on the ground, he circled above. Keeping a good distance as to not completely scare the human, but close enough that if the human yelled something his direction, Blaze would hear him.
After a few moments of circling, Blaze began a nose dive toward the ground. As he did this, he left the tips of his wings out to spin him around as he still faced down. With a burst of fire, Blaze blasted the air in front of him. The complete effect made him look like a tornado of fire heading toward the dirt. He got closer and closer to the ground, and once he was about to hit - Blaze jolted his wings out to stop his decent; his flames stopping at the same time as his claws landed in the soil beneath him. He folded his wings in quick, his weight now completely on his legs - all four of them now clutching the dirt beneath him. He stared forward at the human a good distance in front of him. I am Blaze and this is my land, it was a statement, not a threat.

Peredur saw the dragon as he heard the rustle from where it rose from. He quickly made sure to have his hunting knife loosened but not out. There was no reason to harm this creature, but there was no sense in being foolish either. I am in no position to attack one as powerful as you are. I have just wandered into this area. Sorry, if you were disturbed. I did not intend to anger you. I will not try to encroach on your territory. May I stay here for a little while to recuperate from my trek. Peredur raised his hands to show he meant no harm.

Blaze, proud he made his point, laid down on the wildflowers below him. He still kept his guard up, but it was not needed - any attack from this human would more than likely be protected by his scales. Although he would never invite this human to stay, he was excited to have company, if only for a little while.
What are you called, human? And where would you stay in this place? I see no shelter from the rain, lightning, or sun already built for you, Blaze finished with enjoyment. To him, this was like playing with a kitten. He was bigger, stronger, and he owned this land - nothing gave him more pleasure than to play with littler creatures than him. Not to mention, he could also fry the human like a slab of meat.
