Grumbling, Blaze traveled and traveled to find a place of his own. Lucky for everyone else, he was traveling alone for the complaints he roared continued to flow from his muzzle. He could not care less where he ended up as long as it was away from the noisy dragons he was use to being around. All I want is peace and quite. Is that really too much to ask? These same thoughts mercilessly swept through his mind.
Ahead of Blaze was perhaps the most beautiful place on the planet - green grass covering nearly every inch of the soft, rolling hills. Where there was not grass there was an abundance of flowers or a patch of fruit trees. Further out, there was a small forest with a wondrous meadow of flowers that could easily take any creature's breath away. Animals smaller than Blaze were visible in many directions, making this place as easy as any to find something to munch on.
Despite the wondrous site, Blaze grumbled about the sun as he lazily trudged to a patch of trees where he could lay in the shade. He thumped to the ground as a puff of smoke left his snout. Finally, a place I can rest in peace! I claim this land and will burn anyone who disturbs me! Blaze closed his eyes with a grunt as he waited for the roars to interrupt his peace. When they did not come, he lay there and waited. Again, the roars of other dragons did not pierce his ears. The only sounds around him were the songs of birds, the ruffle of leaves in the wind, and the sound of his own breath.
The comforting peace was so overwhelming, Blaze had to interrupt it. He jumped off the ground with a push from his strong legs and flapped his massive wings into the open air as a roar erupted from his jaws. Looking around, he noticed that not a single thing changed from his outburst – the birds still tweeted, the leaves still rustled, and not a single eye turned to him. It was almost as if he was alone; in fact, he was alone. What a wonderful thing it is, being alone. Blaze thought for probably the first time in his life.
Content that he found the right place to settle, Blaze flapped his leathery wings as he observed his surrounding. From above the ground, he could see for miles and miles. No mountains stopped his view, no darkness obstructed the light, and no other dragons interrupted his moment with nature. This was, in fact, a place of peace and paradise.
