Flames emerged from the snow then died down just as suddenly as they came, revealing a dark egg. The man approached curiously, reaching down for the egg. It was warm to the touch, reliving for his hands in the cold of snow and winds. He couldn't see it's color in the dark of night, but suspected a dark hue of red or brown. The man bowed thanking the gift of the spirits.
There was only one way for him to go now: down, as it is likely when standing on a peak. It was well into the night, but the man found the peak a sacred place of sorts, not where he would just set up camp for the night, so he started his descent on the well-known steps. Further down he selected a smaller flat area far enough from the edge and sheltered from the wind by a wall of rock. He started looking for dried out undergrowth or possibly a few decent branches for firewood and a while later he was sitting by a would-be campfire, dragon egg at his side, trying to light a fire with a flintstone.

Just one thing had seemed to escape Ebathor until now. There were other human tracks in the snow around the mountain if he remembered correctly. They seemed to belong to an older person, who also seemed to get into some frenzy. For the safety of my egg, I must search for this person he reasoned.
Not wanting to leave the egg behind, he wrapped it up and concealed it as best he could within his robes and began the descent down the mountain. As the mountain began to level he thought he saw the faint glow of a fire off the path and slowly began to approach it. He drew his bow and was beginning to enter the fire's glow behind a dark silhouette when he accidentally stepped on a rather weak branch that snapped loudly under his weight.

The silence of night broke with a snapping branch somewhere behind the man. Within a short moment he was on his feet, greatsword in his hand pointed towards the approaching figure. It was a boy, just reaching manhood. As the fire shone on the face of the boy but on the back of the man, he could observe the newcomer from his own shadow. The boy was wielding a bow, clad light like a hunter, prefering mobility for stalking prey. His face lacked the malicious determination of a brigand, so the man lowered the greatsword, blade rested on the ground and his hands rested on the pommel as he stood, and he spoke.
"Who would thou be, lad? An aspiring Rider I presume?" -Wondered the man, considering the boy's apparent descent from Dragon's Peak and his age matching a young adult seeking his fortune for the life awaiting him.

Kole, having decided to just roam for a bit, stumbled upon a small fire and two males. It was just her luck to have found other people. Now she would have to be careful and try to not break the egg that was in her arms. The female elf grew uncomfortable and coughed loudly. Well, it appears I have found more potential riders. Let us not kill each other on this fine night. For we should protect the eggs that we have. Kole grabbed a large staff and placed it between her and the two guys. There was no reason for death on this mountain. If a fight ensued, there was no reason she should not knock them out.

Another shape approached from the peak. The man could see the arrival of this one, an elven lady, for his back wasn't towards the steps this time.
"Greetings to you too, fair elf. We didn't intend to kill each other just sneaking up on a seasoned landstrider tends to end in finding oneself at swordpoint." The man spoke, trying to ease on the tension. He moved his hands from the pommel to the two sides of the cross-guard to indicate he meant no harm.
"But you speak well, fair lady. Let us share this fine fire. The journey down is just as challenging as it is towards the peak, and the night is still young. We shall just as well rest till the morn."

Kole glanced at the other man and realized that there was no fight intended. So instead of continuing to be aggressive, she lowered the staff to the ground and cut off a few feet of the wood. Kole then sheathed her sword and tied the staff to her back with a simple knot. If she moved her shoulders back as if she were stretching to avoid a sword, the staff would slide out of the simple sling-knot. I am Nicole Alicia Haley, daughter of the forest Elves. My descent from this sacred mountain has been difficult. You wouldn't happen to know what type of dragon egg this is, would you? Kole held out the egg and placed it on a square of wool that she kept for things like this egg.

"Naraseren, at your service." The man bowed, responding to the introduction. "Wandering hermit of the whole realm."
He motioned for the other two to get seated around the fire, himself sitting down as well. He examined the dragon egg in question, leaning closer.
"It's appearance reminds me of lightning. Sky or arcane would be my first guess. May I?" He asked, but reached out to touch the egg regardless. "Or maybe water..." He wondered, looking at his fingers by the firelight. Although the egg had felt rather wet, he didn't see the glistening of water on his hand. "This one almost roars about fire" He showed his own egg. "Of course if anything can be foretold of the dragon by its egg shell."

It was a stupid mistake stepping on that stick, but thankfully Ebathor had gotten away a sword in his stomach or a staff to his head. And all without even speaking a word, just as he preferred. As the others were more open and began recklessly exchanging information including some on their eggs he moved to the far side of the fire. He sat and still attempted to hide his own egg until he could determine if these others could be trusted. however the egg was rather large and he was sure the others would recognize his concealment and even figure out what it was that he hid.
Still it could be beneficial to know others that also have dragons, if not as potential allies then he was sure he would know more about them then they him if he ever had to face them in battle. This older one especially seemed knowledgeable about dragons.

"Something troubles the, lad?" Naraseren asked over the campfire. "Don't thee fret, just spit it out." Something was definitely bothering the boy that he sat on the opposite side of the campfire to the two of them, brooding silently. To raise the spirits Naraseren started humming a song.
"Now you all know The bards and their songs. When hours have gone by I'll close my eyes. In a world far away we may meet again But now hear my song about the dawn of the night, Let's sing the bard's song
Tomorrow will take us away, far from home No-one wil know our names. But the bard's songs will remain Tomorrow will take it away, the fear of today It will be gone due to our magic song..."

Kole didn't like the way the younger male acted. He acted like he was better than everyone else and it troubled her. The way the male looked at them and their eggs. It just didn't seem right. I can still knock you out, you know. It just doesn't seem like I need to. And thank you Naraseren. These words help me understand that I can have such a great dragon. Kole smiled at the older male. I really must be going. It was nice to discuss our dragon eggs. She stood up and glanced over at the younger companion before releasing the staff from her sheath. The female elf walked away, using the staff to help her get down the slope and leave. The morning sun helped her pick her way through, as well as keep the predators from attacking her.
(Kole has left the mountain. If either of you wants to post with her, personal message me.)

Naraseren slept through the night wrapped in his cape and around the dragon egg. This way not only did he feel he had it secured, it also kept him warm, it's heatsplendidly distributed by the steel of his armour. Come morning he put out the remnants of the campfire by smothering it with snow, gathered his belongings and set off to venture down the mountain. compared to the way up, through wild and untouched hills, his journey down was much easier

After a long night of feigning sleep, Ebathor was glad that the other two had left. He did not harbor ill feelings towards them, it was just more natural to be alone. At least semi- alone. His egg was a constant reminder that he would soon be eternally with another being. The prospect was both exhilarating and terrifying, so it was best to use this excitement to accomplish something, such as picking up those supplies he had begun to list off in his head at the top of the mountain. And with that he put out the dwindling fire and set off down the path.
