His dark appearance leads many to worship him mainly as the god of death, often giving less credit to the God of Life part, sometimes even completely leaving it off. He himself vievs the two parts, life and death, as two halves of a whole, and being the master of both, he believes he holds the greatest power among the gods, as he is the most vital part in the life of mortals.
He holds himself as a component of the powers of the other gods, as day, night, oceans, nature and storms would mean nothing without life and mortals to behold them; dreams, wisdom, and chaotic craze are in the minds of the living; love, birth and creation is about life, mayhem, war and violence is incomplete without death.
He rules life and death as he wills, taking and giving life from and to whomever he wants. Immortal, he has the infinite time mortals could only wish for, if he takes someone's life, they don't just collapse lifeless on the spot, they become destined for doom. They head into battle to fall there, a soaring arrow or a cutthroat finds their way to them, they contract a disease slowly taking away their life, what is a snap of his fingers for Ghassan can be hours, years, even long decades of impending doom for the mortals. Those who he destines to live don't become invulnerable, they may feel themselves lucky, deadly blows miss them, someone finds them sickly or mortally wounded and nurses them back to health. When he acts there is a mortal down there who acts for him, unaware of doing his bidding
He plays with the lives of mortals, but as he is guardian of life as well, not only death, he favors those true in heart, gives his blessing to those believing they fight for a greater good, those who selflessly help others. Upon the chosen he even bestows his own powers, giving them a taste of controlling life and death, to revive one life at the cost of another.
